UPDATE: Updating the kernel to the 4.4.0-64-generic version available through the update manager corrected my mistakes, and I have wireless recognition capability again. I'll include more system information in the comments section.
If anybody can help me get my computer to recognize wireless networks again, I'd be satisfied if anybody can help me figure out how to get the wireless to actually work properly, I'd be overjoyed. So far I've tried reinstalling all the wireless packages through synaptic and searching for the source of the sudden miscommunication between the driver and the chipset. I could see wireless connections with strong signals available, but attempting to connect either gave me a purely nominal connection or didn't go past requesting a password.Īfter a while I was just grasping for anything that might work, and in my experimentation I followed this tutorial: After following those instructions, I can no longer even see any wireless connection. I installed Linux Mint on a new Lenovo Ideapad 310 a month ago, and have been trying to get the wireless to work properly.
